Charlton missed the opportunity to join Leeds at the top of Coca-Cola League One after being held to a goalless draw by Oldham.

With Leeds not in action due to international call-ups, the Addicks had the opportunity to draw level at the top of the of the Football League's third tier, but could not breach the defence of ninth-placed Oldham and remain second.

Kayode Odejayi was on target as Colchester capitalised on Bristol Rovers' inactivity to go third with a 1-0 win at Leyton Orient.

The on-loan Barnsley striker netted from close range nine minutes into the second half for his fourth goal in three games since moving from Oakwell as Aidy Boothroyd's side leapfrogged the Pirates.

Jermaine Easter netted his sixth of the season as MK Dons claimed a 1-0 win over Walsall. Paul Ince's side also climbed above Rovers, moving fourth after their seventh win of the season.

Former Colchester boss Paul Lambert's remarkable run at Norwich continued with a 1-0 win at Carlisle, with Wes Hoolahan on target from 12 yards shortly before the interval.

Lambert, who replaced Bryan Gunn in August, now has five wins and one defeat from nine league matches in charge, taking the Canaries to sixth in the standings.

Jordan Rhodes struck a hat-trick in eight minutes either side of half-time as Huddersfield romped to a 4-0 defeat of Exeter.

The treble took Rhodes' tally for the season to 11, while Lee Novak was also on target in the eighth-placed Terriers' fourth home win of the season.

Danny Schofield's late strike earned Millwall a 1-1 draw in an ill-tempered clash with seventh-placed Swindon.

Scott Cuthbert fired Swindon in front but Town were then reduced to 10 men when Jonathan Douglas picked up a straight red card for a foul on Nadjim Abdou.

Andy Frampton was dismissed for the visitors, but Schofield popped up to level for the 10th-placed Lions.

Yeovil denied Brighton a first win in five as Scott Murray fired a double to lead a comeback from 2-0 down to earn a 2-2 draw.

Managerless Wycombe suffered further woe after Simeon Jackson's late strike earned Gillingham a 3-2 win. The 23rd-placed Chairboys, who parted company with Peter Taylor in midweek, twice levelled only for Jackson to net his second of the game 13 minutes from time.
