West Brom crashed two goals in three minutes past injury-hit Barnsley to shake
off the hangover left by their disappointing FA Cup defeat at Bournemouth.
Aussie defender Shaun Murphy opened the scoring with his close-range header in
the 66th minute.
Then, in the 69th minute, ace marksman Lee Hughes put the issue beyond doubt
as he claimed his 27th strike of the season.
But before the super-quick double-blast from Albion it was Barnsley who were
holding the edge and looking more likely to find the target.
Don Goodman, who spent four years on Albion's books, fired a shot from a
scoring position into the side netting.
Then, just moments later, the striker - with Barnsley during the close-season
in Japan - had a superb rising shot brilliantly kept out by keeper Phil
Whitehead.
But Albion turned the game completely round when James Quinn chipped in a
perfect cross and substitute Fabian De Freitas to lash in a first-time volley.
Keeper Tony Bullock made a magnificent one-handed save to keep the ball out
but Murphy charged in to find the target with a header.
The three minutes later, the hard-working Quinn carved open the Barnsley
defence with a marvellous through pass to release the unmarked Hughes.
The 22-year-old Harriers took the ball forward before blasting his brilliant
shot into the far corner of the Barnsley net.
