West Brom finally sealed promotion to the Barclays Premier League and claimed the Coca-Cola Championship title in the process after goals from Do-heon Kim and Chris Brunt secured victory at 10-man QPR.

The result meant West Brom clinched top spot on 81 points, two ahead of second-placed Stoke who could only manage a goalless draw at home to relegated Leicester.

Rangers goalkeeper Lee Camp produced fine saves to deny Roman Bednar and Brunt in an otherwise disappointing opening 45 minutes which saw Martin Rowlands sent off for a two-footed challenge on Jonathan Greening.

But substitute Kim, who had only been on the pitch for eight minutes, headed home Zoltan Gera's cross in the 53rd minute to register his first goal of the season and send a partisan Baggies following into dreamland.

Brunt, who had earlier hit the crossbar, then let fly with a superb free-kick to confirm West Brom's return to the top flight after two seasons in the second tier.

Baggies boss Tony Mowbray made two changes to the side that all-but sealed promotion against Southampton six days previously, Brunt and Bednar coming in for James Morrison and Ishmael Miller.

QPR made just one switch, defender Zesh Rehman coming in for the suspended Damion Stewart, while 18-year-old Ramone Rose claimed a place on the bench.

The London outfit revealed a new club badge prior to kick-off to mark the dawn of a new era at Loftus Road.

Dexter Blackstock almost gave the resurgent Hoops an unexpected lead after 10 minutes but his close-range header was adjudged not to have crossed the goalline after a fine save from Baggies goalkeeper Dean Kiely.

The visitors replied almost immediately and Bednar, who will undergo a hernia operation in the summer, was unlucky to see his effort well saved by Camp.

Both sides were keen to give nothing away as the half progressed with very little in the way of goalmouth opportunities.

Brunt did go close for the visitors on the half-hour mark but his drilled left-footed strike was superbly tipped over the bar by Camp.

But Rangers had their work cut out as the game approached the interval as Rowlands was shown a straight red, forcing boss Luigi De Canio to bring on defender Mikele Leigertwood for striker Angelo Balanta.

Mowbray made a change of his own at half-time with midfielder Kim coming on in place of Bednar.

But despite their numerical disadvantage it was the hosts who started the brighter of the two sides after the restart, Blackstock firing over from 20 yards.

Yet it was the away side who made the crucial breakthrough in the 53rd minute.

Hungarian Gera chipped an inch-perfect delivery across the penalty area for Kim to head home from close range and send the travelling Baggies fans into party mode.

Brunt almost made it two in the 68th minute but he could only watch as his shot from the edge of the area hit the bar.

But the former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder made no mistake with 13 minutes remaining as he drilled a stunning free-kick into the top corner from 20 yards to ensure the midlands club lifted their first piece of silverware since 1968.
