Diomansy Kamara scored with virtually the last touch of the game to ensure wasteful West Brom got their promotion charge back on track against Norwich.

The game was seemingly headed for a draw after Sam Sodje's sublime volley cancelled out Dickson Etuhu's 57th-minute opener.

But with stoppage time two minutes old, Kamara, who along with his team-mates conspired to waste a season's worth of chances in the previous 90 minutes, leapt onto a Zoltan Gera cross to claim the points.

The result, only West Brom's second win in eight games, sees the Baggies consolidate their place in the play-off places, while Norwich languish in 16th.

For a while, however, it seemed West Brom would never score, much less do it twice.

Countless chances came and went and while some shots missed by close margins, like Robert Koren's crossbar-bound drive on the half hour, most were inexcusably wayward.

The trend began when Kamara curled over the bar in the 13th minute and continued when Nathan Ellington volleyed straight at Tony Warner seven minutes later.

Koren did little to suggest fortunes were going to take an upturn when he blazed hopelessly high, while crowd frustrations became audible when Kamara's piledriver soared straight into team-mate Gera.

All in all it was looking pretty dire for the visitors, but hope that the attackers' bearings were improving came when Darren Carter and Koran rattled the bar in quick succession.

It sparked a second surge in the game's tempo, but added nothing to the scoreline.

Ellington did nothing to suggest that would change with a couple of wayward efforts late in the half and Koren was no better when his latest chance went straight to Warner.

In between moments of West Brom wastefulness, Norwich's attackers did pay the game a fleeting visit.

Darren Huckerby stung Dean Kiely's palms from 25 yards in the 37th minute, while Gary Doherty looked sporadically threatening.

As it transpired, the half ended as it begun with West Brom wasting a chance - Kamara the guilty party - but the second did not herald any new hope.

Ellington immediately drove into Warner's arms, while he managed little better a moment later when he clattered into Kamara, who then proceeded to miss from close range.

With 57 minutes played Adam Drury collected the ball on the left flank and with the Canaries' only successful cross of the opening hour he found Etuhu, who directed his header into the top corner from 12 yards out.

Carter, Gera and Ellington saw their shots either miss the target or superbly saved but then West Brom equalised in the 72nd minute.

Sam Sodje made the difference, heading into a crowded box before thundering the rebound into the roof of the net.

Mark Fotheringham brought a good save from Kiely before Jason Koumas, on as a substitute for Carter, had his blast caught by Warner.

The game was destined for a draw but West Brom turned the game on its head with practically the last kick, Kamara leaping onto Gera's stoppage time cross to seal the points.
