A brilliant goal from Gareth Hall earned lowly Swindon only their second point
in seven games and denied struggling West Brom their first victory in 13 games.
Brian Little's Albion took the lead at The Hawthorns with a 73rd minute
penalty after substitute keeper Steve Mildenhall pulled down striker Lee Hughes
as he broke for goal.
Hughes opted to take the spot-kick himself and he made no mistake with a
low-hard drive past the diving Mildenhall to claim his first goal in eight
games.
But bottom-placed Swindon levelled the scores four minutes later when the
impressive Hall claimed his second goal in Town's last three games.
Andy Williams crossed for Hall to lash a brilliant 20-yard shot past keeper
Chris Adamson into the net.
The Albion manager will now be seeking urgent talks with his directors to find
out how much money he can spend from the £4.3million sale of midfielder Enzo
Maresca to Juventus - a deal completed just hours before kick-off.
It was Little's men who held the edge in the opening 45 minutes but they
failed to find the target with Hughes squandering a good chance after just seven
minutes when his shot was weak.
Then, in the 25th minute, Hughes blazed a shot across the face of the Swindon
goal while moments later Sean Flynn was denied by a marvellous diving save from
Frank Talia who bowed out of the action at the break injured.
The first real threat by Swindon to the Albion goalmouth did not come until
the 57th minute when Hall burst through on the left to fire in a shot that
keeper Adamson did well to fingertip away.
