A move engineered by Jeff Minton ended with the ball at the feet of Bullock, who lashed in a terrific shot from 12 yards but Adamson dived to make a marvellous one-handed save and keep Albion in the game.
It was the Potteries outfit - with just one away success to their credit all
season - who took the initiative with Tony Naylor having a shot after just eight
minutes well taken by Adamson.
But Albion were then guilty of the miss of the match when, in the 23rd minute,
an inch-perfect cross from Graham Potter caught the Potteries defence
flat-footed.
The ball fell to unmarked Italian midfielder Enzo Maresca but, from only eight
yards, he fired his shot wide of the target.
Andy Townsend had a low hard left-footer from 25 yards well smothered by Paul
Musselwhite before play switched with Minton just off target with an angled
volley for Vale.
After the break, it was again Vale who held the edge with Naylor beating three
men in a determined run in the 68th minute only to see his shot well taken by
the diving Adamson.
In the end Albion were booed off the pitch by their frustrated fans having now
not tasted success in their league campaign since November.
