Southend have recalled striker Gary Hooper from his loan spell at Leyton Orient.
The teenager was on the substitutes' bench against Nottingham Forest at Brisbane Road on Saturday having been sidelined recently with a knee injury.
Although Orient lost, they are now safe from relegation from League One and with the injuries piling up at Roots Hall - Freddy Eastwood, Mark Gower and Kevin Maher are all currently in the treatment room - manager Steve Tilson has invoked the 24-hour recall clause.
"We're light on numbers so I decided to bring Gary back," said Tilson.
"He has trained with the squad and will be available for the trip to Southampton at the weekend."
