Southend manager Steve Tilson has confirmed he wants to bring Crystal Palace midfielder Tommy Black to Roots Hall.

Black, 27, played only once for Palace under Peter Taylor this season and spent a month on loan at Bradford, and with his contract expiring at the end of the month he will not command a fee.

"Tommy could bring great quality in the final third of the pitch and if you could get him fit he would be a decent player," said Tilson.

"He was on decent money at Palace but he is out of contract and he is another we could well be bringing in."
