Freddy Eastwood and Mark Gower are major injury doubts ahead of Southend's must-win clash with Luton at Roots Hall.
Top-scorer Eastwood was patched up to face Plymouth last week after suffering back spasms and lasted 75 minutes before being replaced.
But he has been back on the treatment table this week and is a doubtful starter.
Winger Gower is also struggling with a back injury which forced him out during the first half at Home Park, but he is more likely to figure than Eastwood.
Matt Harrold is on standby to replace Eastwood in attack while Richie Foran would come in for Gower on the left wing.
A defeat will see Southend relegated after just one season in the Championship, while a draw will not be enough if Hull get a point from their clash with Cardiff or Leeds beat Ipswich.
Experienced defender Russell Perrett is likely to miss out for Luton.
The 33-year-old has an ankle injury and is a doubt for the trip to Roots Hall.
Should Perrett miss out, his name would be added to the lengthy injury list with which Kevin Blackwell has been forced to contend since he took over.
The Hatters boss is still without Sol Davis (calf) and Kevin Foley (ankle) as well as midfielders Steve Robinson (back) and Ahmet Brkovic (eye).
Blackwell is also without long-term casualties Sam Parkin (ankle) and Paul Underwood, who has missed the whole campaign but is expected to return for pre-season.
