Colin Todd began his reign at Swindon with a point at Bramall Lane - but had
to thank striker Guiliano Grazioli for his brace that secured an unlikely draw.
The Blades dominated for most of the match but, having taken the lead through
Wayne Quinn's 14th minute strike, Grazioli brought them back down to earth with
two goals in two minutes.
A clinical chip in the 53rd minute levelled the scores from Swindon's first
real chance and moments later his low drive beat Simon Tracey from inside the
box.
Neither side seemed fully motivated for this end-of-season affair and the
already relegated Robins did little to impress their new boss.
They managed just three shots during the entire 90 minutes and had it not been
for some slack United defending they would have returned home on the back of yet
another defeat.
United started brightly and Marcus Bent shot wide after six minutes, then Alan
Reeves did well to deflect Bruno Ribeiro's effort over the bar three minutes
later.
After Quinn put the home side ahead, keeper Steve Mildenhall did well to parry
Paul Devlin's powerful low drive, but the Swindon stopper was forced off the
pitch midway through the first half after colliding with the post whilst trying
to cover a shot.
Young Irishman Alan Flanagan came on for his Robins debut and pulled off a
great double save in first half injury time to deny Quinn and Bent.
Swindon were level eight minutes after the restart and debut boy Flanagan had
a hand in it. His long kick was flicked on by Steve Cowe, and Grazioli ran
through a static defence and sent a crisp chip over Tracey.
It was a rare touch for Tracey, but two minutes later he was beaten again as
Lee Collins laid the ball off to Grazioli in the box and the former Peterborough
forward scored with ease.
Neil Warnock used all three substitutes in an effort to spark some life into
United.
And it worked as the Blades claimed the equaliser their dominance deserved in
the 73rd minute.
Reeves was unable to clear Quinn's free-kick from just in front of his
goalkeeper and substitute Burley nipped in to poke the ball home.
Grazioli had a great chance to complete his hat-trick in the 81st minute. He
beat Tracey to the ball on the byline but his chip was scrambled off the line by
the Blades defence .
