Crystal Palace 1 Sheffield United 1

A late strike from Clinton Morrison earned cash-troubled Crystal Palace a point against Neil Warnock's rejuvenated Sheffield United at Selhurst Park.

After a goal-less first half, Marcus Bent headed the Blades in front against his old club on 47 minutes.

But Morrison snatched victory away from the visitors with an 89th minute strike - his 10th goal of the season.

The visitors started the stronger side but failed to turn possession into goals.

On 16 minutes Wayne Quinn's corner was headed against the bar by Lee Sandford and seven minutes later Alex Notman, on loan from Manchester United, had a great chance from just five-yards out but his shot was blocked by Fraser Digby in the Palace goal.

The Blades continued to press and another chance went begging on 25 minutes.

A free-kick on the edge of the box was powerfully driven by Paul Devlin but Digby produced a superb reflex save.

From the rebound Bobby Ford looked certain to score but dwelled on his shot for far too long and desperate Palace cleared up field.

From the clearance Palace were offered a rare chance but young striker Andrew Martin lobed over when he had better options to pass.

Immediately after the restart Ford was presented with a one-on-one with Digby but he tamely side-footed straight at the Palace keeper but the visitors did not have to wait long for the breakthrough.

After 47 minutes, Paul Devlin made good ground down the right touch line and crossed perfectly to Bent who climbed above the Palace defence to place a downward header wide of Digby's left outstretched hand and into the corner of the net.

Palace had a chance to reply straight away with Andy Linighan pumping a powerful header from Simon Rogers' corner against the underside of the bar.

Being a goal down suddenly spurred Palace into life. The Eagles switched Chinese international Fan Zhiyi to attack and for the first time the Blades were being asked to defend deeply and in numbers.

Hayden Mullins drove a low shot which Simon Tracey parried. Morrison slid home the rebound but his effort was ruled off-side.

Palace's revival was being met with typical Blades resistance and a minute from time after Zhiyi caused panic in the goalmouth, Morrison pounced to score his 10th of the season.
