Michael Chopra grabbed the first league goal at the new Cardiff City Stadium to help his side to a comfortable 4-0 win over promoted Scunthorpe.

Chopra, who has returned to south Wales following an unhappy spell with Sunderland, drilled home from 25 yards in the 19th minute.

He nearly made it 2-0 four minutes later but saw his shot from the edge of the penalty box hit the post.

Jay Bothroyd did double the home side's lead in the 31st minute, tapping home from close range after good work from Joe Ledley.
