Roy Keane is determined to enjoy life as Ipswich manager - even though he admitted after Saturday's 1-1 draw away to fellow strugglers Reading that he has had to deal with some stressful times so far in the Championship.

Ipswich remain at the wrong end of the table, despite a current run of five matches without defeat - thanks to an early Jon Stead goal, which gave the visitors the advantage until Simon Church's involuntary finish just after the break.

Reflecting on his Ipswich tenure so far, Keane said: "We have made some changes to the players, the staff and the training ground.

"It's a nice area to live. My wife and I are enjoying it. Mind you, I have been walking the dog at midnight after a few of our recent results."

Keane had no complaints about Saturday's outcome. "I thought it was a fair result," he said.

"They had more of the possession and put us under pressure. They are a big, strong side - which surprised me.

"I thought our last two performances were perhaps the poorest for a month. But we got results - and I always say that if you get results the table sorts itself out.

"Perhaps we scored too early - because as soon as we did, we thought we could sit back. But you can't do that."

Ipswich scored after just nine minutes. David Wright's long throw was only partially headed clear by Reading captain Ivar Ingimarsson, and the ball fell to

Stead, who hooked it high into the corner of the net.

It was Stead who scored the only goal when Ipswich beat Reading 1-0 in the corresponding game last season.

But this time, Reading's equaliser came two minutes into the second half.

An Alex Pearce header found its way to Gylfi Sigurdsson, whose shot from close range struck Church on the leg and was diverted into the goal.

Reading manager Brendan Rodgers rued Stead's early strike.

"It was a game we came into with big confidence but gave ourselves a mountain to climb by giving away a goal at the beginning. It was a stupid goal," he said.

"I thought we should have had a penalty when Shane Long was brought down near the end. It's clear there was contact when you see the TV replay. You usually get those at home.

"We had some really good moments in the first half but failed to capitalise. It's a frustrating end to a couple of good weeks."

Rodgers had been hoping for Reading's first home win since January.

Instead, he had to face the fact they have now gone 16 league fixtures at the Madejski Stadium without a win - and are the only league side who have yet to win a home match this season.

Their tally of 14 points from 16 matches is their worst start to a season for 22 years.
