Reading defender Michael Duberry made a successful comeback from his calf injury in the 6-0 reserve win over Northampton on Wednesday.
The 33-year-old has played just 21 minutes for Steve Coppell's side this season thanks to the injury but came through the first hour unscathed against the Cobblers.
Czech Republic midfielder Marek Matejovsky also played 75 minutes on his return from an ankle injury to put himself in contention to face QPR at the weekend.
Coach Nigel Gibbs said: "It was a really solid performance against a youthful and enthusiastic Northampton side.
"It was great to see 'Doobs' back and Marek looked comfortable.
"He showed some flashes of brilliance with his passing."
