Queens Park Rangers earned a valuable point in their battle against relegation
with a well deserved draw at Bradford.
After trailing 1-0 at half-time, Ray Harford's men hit back well in the second
half and but for the brilliance of City goalkeeper Gary Walsh they could well
have earned victory.
Kevin Gallen began their fightback three minutes after the interval when he
scored with a powerful header after Tony Scully had forced his way past Bradford
skipper Wayne Jacobs on the left.
Rangers were unlucky not to score a second goal after 77 minutes when Mike
Sheron played Gallen through, only for the striker to shoot against the
advancing Walsh.
Gallen was played through again six minutes later, but Walsh once more came to
Bradford's rescue to block his shot on the edge of the penalty area and a minute
later made a fine save to keep out an angled shot from substitute Steve Slade.
After Rangers had made a lively start, Bradford went ahead after 18 minutes
with a goal from their Swedish international Robert Steiner.
Steiner shot the ball into the empty net after he, Edinho and Robbie Blake had
had shots blocked in the penalty box.
But Bradford were unable to add to their lead, the best of their first half
chances falling to substitute Shaun Murray after 32 minutes. His shot hit the
advancing Lee Harper.
