QPR unveiled a new look at Edgeley Park but it was the same old story as they
were well beaten by Stockport.
New signing Iain Dowie, Keith Rowland and Mark Kennedy could make little
impression as Rangers showed a lack of commitment.
Dowie might have marked his debut with a goal but Stockport skipper Mike Flynn
blocked his header on the line and the ball rolled across goal to hit the post
and bounce into keeper Eric Nixon's arms.
Stockport's enterprising play was rewarded on 14 minutes as Chris Byrne raced
down the wing and was given time to pick out the unmarked Alun Armstrong for a
five-yard tap in.
That was Armstrong's 15th goal of the season and his third in five games since
announcing that he wants to leave Stockport for a Premiership club in the
summer.
Rangers played their part in a pulsating first half, as Steve Yates and Gavin
Peacock both forced Nixon into acrobatic saves.
But they were lucky to escape two penalty appeals as Rowland seemed to push
Brett Angell over and Morrow's hand made contact with a Martin McIntosh shot.
The Londoners were also let off when Angell somehow sliced wide when faced
with an open goal, but their luck ran out in the second half.
Sean Connelly's burst into the box was clumsily ended by Morrow's shove and
Tony Dinning, stepping in for the badly injured Tom Bennett, calmly tucked the
penalty away.
