QPR claimed a vital victory in their fight for survival as goals from Lee Cook, Dexter Blackstock and Steve Lomas extended Burnley's winless run to 10 league matches.

Cook's 13th-minute opener for Rangers was quickly cancelled out by Chris McCann, but second-half strikes from Blackstock and Lomas gave the home side three points which could prove crucial in their battle to avoid relegation from the Coca-Cola Championship.

Danny Cullip made his debut for Rangers following his move from Nottingham Forest during the week, while fellow January signing Adam Bolder made his first appearance at Loftus Road.

Rangers boss John Gregory also recalled fit-again duo Gareth Ainsworth and Martin Rowlands, and Steven Caldwell was among the Burnley substitutes after signing from Sunderland in midweek.

The visitors made the brighter start, and only a sharp recovery tackle from Sampsa Timoska denied Alan Mahon a shot at goal in the fourth minute following Ade Akinbiyi's flick-on.

Rangers stood up to the early pressure and took the lead in the 13th minute - although they had a helping hand from Burnley's Kyle Lafferty.

The highly-rated forward was caught in possession by Bolder, whose perfectly-weighted pass allowed Cook to collect the ball on the left and drive a fierce effort into the bottom-right corner from 20 yards.

But Burnley were undaunted, and they equalised in the 18th minute. Stephen Foster found room to cross from the right, and McCann, whose run from midfield had not been tracked, guided a header past Simon Royce from 10 yards for Burnley's first league goal in 2007.

Rangers wasted a good chance to regain the lead five minutes before the break when Ainsworth and Timoska collided as they tried to reach Rowlands' well-flighted cross from the right.

The second half began as untidily as the first had ended, with neither team apparently capable of keeping possession for a sustained period.

But it was Rangers who seized the lead once more in the 55th minute, Blackstock meeting Cook's left-wing corner with a powerful close-range header that flew past Mike Pollitt.

Cook put a ferocious volley just over from 12 yards three minutes later, before Burnley boss Steve Cotterill made a triple substitution in the 65th minute, with Andy Gray, Steve Jones and Caldwell all coming on.

Blackstock was denied his second in the 72nd minute only by a superb save from Pollitt, who did brilliantly to push the forward's header around the right post.

But from Rowlands' resulting corner, Pollitt's good work was undone when Lomas rose the highest to nod the ball into the bottom-left corner.
