Sheffield Wednesday could be boosted by the return of Richard Wood, Marcus Tudgay and Etienne Esajas to their squad for the home game with Preston.
Defender Wood missed Saturday's win over Coventry through illness, striker Tudgay was struggling with a neck problem and winger Esajas was ruled out with a knee injury.
Wood could return alongside skipper Darren Purse in central defence while Tudgay and Esajas are expected to return to the substitutes' bench.
Manager Brian Laws has no new injury or suspension problems and is not expected to make too many changes from the side that registered a second win in seven league matches.
Midfielders Tommy Miller and Sean McAllister are hoping for recalls to the starting line-up, while Akpo Sodje, Francis Jeffers and Fran Simek will all be pushing to feature.
Preston captain Callum Davidson could make his long-awaited return from injury.
The Scotland defender has been out since September after tearing his hamstring while on international duty but Alan Irvine is hoping to have him available for selection at Hillsborough.
He said: "He's had a couple of training sessions but he is not quite there yet, he'll train again on Monday so we will assess him at that point.
"He may well be ready for Tuesday but we don't want to bring him back too early, we will bring him back when he is ready."
Paul Parry could start after coming on as a substitute at QPR at the weekend, playing 25 minutes as he makes his way back from a hamstring injury.
Midfielder Barry Nicholson remains out with a broken leg but Irvine should have no other major concerns.
