Marcel Seip scored on his Blackpool debut against his parent club Plymouth as Ian Holloway tasted victory over his former employers.

Argyle centre-back Seip is on the transfer list at Home Park and has joined Blackpool on a one-month loan.

Granted permission by the Pilgrims to play against his employers, Seip powered home a header to open the scoring in the 31st minute and midfielder David Vaughan added a second in the 64th minute.

That ensured a fine afternoon for former Argyle boss Holloway and left Paul Sturrock's men in relegation trouble.

Blackpool went close inside the second minute when Hameur Bouazza fired left-footed from 18 yards and drew a fine block from Shane Lowry.

Yet Argyle looked a threat themselves when going forward and Jamie Mackie drew a smart stop from Blackpool goalkeeper Matthew Gilks with a fierce 20-yard shot in the fifth minute.

Moments later, Blackpool threatened again when midfielder Keith Southern saw his shot blocked by David Gray.

Holloway's men began to dominate and Alex Baptiste's cross was greeted with a firm header from striker Ben Burgess which flew just wide.

Plymouth's goal continued to live a charmed life and in the 14th minute Bouazza crossed dangerously and Burgess headed straight at Argyle goalkeeper Romain Larrieu.

Bouazza then warmed Larrieu's hands with an 18-yard shot and Baptiste had two shots in quick succession to signal his attacking intent.

With 20 minutes played, Plymouth almost opened the scoring against the run of play when James Paterson crossed superbly and Rory Fallon headed goalwards from 12 yards.

Gilks was equal to his effort and in the 25th minute Blackpool went close when Billy Clarke rifled a left-footed shot over the bar from 12 yards.

In the 31st minute, Blackpool got the reward their endeavour deserved as Seip struck in clinical fashion after Lowry fouled Burgess.

Scotland midfielder Charlie Adam delivered a dangerous free-kick from the right flank and Seip arrived to send a firm header into the bottom left corner from 12 yards.

The Seasiders came close to doubling their advantage when Adam crossed dangerously well again and Krisztian Timar cleared.

However, the ball fell straight to Clarke, who volleyed left-footed from 12 yards and Larrieu made a fine parried save.

Adam then rifled a 25-yard shot wide on the stroke of half-time as Blackpool failed to secure the second goal their enterprise deserved before the break.

However, the points were secured in the 64th minute when Burgess supplied a fine pass to Vaughan and he dispatched a clinical left-footed shot into the top corner.

Clarke sought to add a third for the Seasiders with a fine shot which Larrieu dealt with comfortably.

Plymouth offered little and James Paterson shot wide from 20 yards as Blackpool held on with relative comfort.
