Plymouth Argyle boss Paul Sturrock has declined to comment on reports that Paul Mariner will become his new assistant.
Mariner, who played for the club in the 1970s, has been linked with a return to Home Park to take up a position on Sturrock's coaching staff.
The former England striker is currently the No.2 to Steve Nicol at New England Revolution, but the MLS club claim Plymouth have been given permission to speak to Mariner.
However, Sturrock has stated that he is not yet in a position to disclose whether he is looking to add Mariner to his backroom team.
"There is no comment to be made at this minute in time," Sturrock told The Herald.
"You people (the media) will be the first to know if anything changes on that. I will discuss it at the appropriate time."
