Pierre van Hooijdonk signed off in style by blasting Nottingham Forest back to
the top of the First Division,
Van Hooijdonk will miss Forest's next two games while he is away with Holland
on a World Cup warm up tour of America.
But he gave the Forest fans something to remember him by - in the form of a
two-goal blast that floored struggling Huddersfield.
The Dutchman opened the scoring nine minutes before half time with a
spectacular strike from fully 30 yards out which gave Huddersfield goalkeeper
Stephen Harper no chance whatsoever.
And he rounded off the scoring 10 minutes from time with a neat lob over the
stranded Harper, which took his goal tally for the season to 26.
In between that, Frenchman Thierry Bonalair sealed the points for Forest with
a 67th-minute strike, side footing into an empty net following a mistake by
former City ground favourite David Phillips.
Huddersfield, who conceded five goals against Ipswich on Saturday, came close
to scoring early in the second half but Wayne Allison saw his header cleared off
the line by Colin Cooper.
