Wolves 2 Nottingham Forest 0

David Jones claimed his first home league win for Wolves as Forest were reduced to nine men at Molineux for the second successive season.

Forest midfielder Andy Johnson was red-carded a minute before the break for punching Wolves skipper Kevin Muscat in the face.

Then, in the 89th minute, substitute Marlon Harewood took an early bath after being booked twice for fouls in the space of eight minutes.

It was always Wolves who held the edge against David Platt's play-off chasers but they did not take the lead until the 48th minute.

Andy Sinton chipped a right-wing corner into the middle, the ball was nodded on by Tony Dinning and Gareth Edds put the ball into the back of his own net while trying to clear.

Then, in the 62nd minute, Adam Proudlock guaranteed the points for Wolves with his eighth goal of the season.

George Ndah made a determined run along the right wing before providing a perfect pass for Proudlock to beat keeper Dave Beasant with a well-placed shot from 10 yards.

In the one-sided first half Beasant made a terrific save in the 15th minute to keep out a goal-bound header from the busy Ndah.

Then, in the 38th minute, Ndah charged into the box but, with only Beasant to beat, he blazed his shot wide of the target.

After the break it was again Wolves who held the upper hand against a Forest side without a league win at Molineux for 21 years.

Ndah was again unlucky in the 54th minute when he fired in another cracking shot that looked bound for the net but Beasant dived to finger-tip the ball against the foot of the far post.

As well as having two players red-carded, Forest had another three men cautioned while Wolves had two men booked.
