Veteran Forest goalkeeper Dave Beasant pulled off a hat-trick of brilliant
saves to preserve a point for Dave Platt's play-off chasers.
Beasant took centre stage in the second half to deny Chris Holland on 71
minutes, springing to his left to tip away a fierce drive, which was destined
for the bottom corner.
Five minutes from time Beasant dived to his right to keep out Martin Smith's
rasping 15-yard drive.
And deep in injury time Smith collected a pass from substitute Dean Gorre 12
yards out and fired in another pile-driver which looked to be heading for the
near post, but somehow Beasant got his fingertips on it to turn it away for a
corner.
With seconds to go Gorre finally beat Beasant with a mazy run past two
defenders and the keeper, but on-loan Francis Benali was on the line to hack it
clear.
Forest had taken an early lead when former Aston Villa star Ricardo Scimeca
netted his fourth goal of the season by heading in a Benali cross on 12
minutes.
Seconds earlier record £3.5million signing David Johnson was put clean through
by Gareth Williams, but the former Ipswich striker's shot was saved by the legs
of advancing Town keeper Nico Vaesen.
Forest dominated the opening exchanges but Huddersfield gradually came back
into the match.
Forest received a warning on 38 minutes when Martin Smith at full stretch just
failed to connect with Ben Thornley's whipped in cross from the right.
But Delroy Facey punished slack marking from another centre from the right to
tap in from close range.
Early in the second half teenager Facey jinked his way past two defenders and
fed Kevin Gallen, but the former QPR marksman was crowded out before he could
get a shot in.
Johnson could have sealed it for Forest when he beat Town's offside trap on 83
minutes, but he blazed wildly over the bar from 20 yards when he perhaps could
have taken the ball on further.
