Gary Hooper and David Mirfin are major doubts ahead of Scunthorpe's match against Nottingham Forest at The City Ground on Wednesday night.
Centre-back Mirfin came off in the 2-2 draw at home to Doncaster in the Championship on Saturday with a hip flexor injury and boss Nigel Adkins admits he is "touch and go" along with Hooper, who has been suffering with a hamstring injury.
The influential duo will be assessed in the morning of the game although Adkins is wary of taking any risks, particularly with striker Hooper.
"Hamstrings are notorious and if you dont get them right the first time they can cause lots of problems," he told the club's official website.
"Gary is a big player for us so we will make sure that we get that one right."
Striker Jonathan Forte has recovered from the eye injury he suffered against Doncaster.
Forest will hope to have striker Robert Earnshaw available again.
Despite being unbeaten on their travels this season, Forest have lost three times at the City Ground.
Earnshaw remains a doubt with a pelvic injury which forced him to miss the trip to Plymouth on Sunday.
Forest also have concerns over the fitness of Kelvin Wilson, who was withdrawn during the second half against Plymouth - his first league game of the season - with severe cramp in both legs.
Davies has no further new injury worries, although Julian Bennett and James Perch continue to be long-term absentees.
