Reading boss Steve Coppell has been named Coca-Cola Championship Manager of the Month for December.
The Royals enjoyed an excellent month, winning five and drawing two of their seven league fixtures including victories over Coventry, Barnsley and Blackpool.
But the highlight for Coppell's side was their victory at Birmingham, a result which saw the Royals move into the automatic promotion places.
Chris Kamara, chairman of the Coca-Cola Manager of the Month Awards panel, said: "Steve Coppell is once again demonstrating just why he is one of the best managers around.
"He lost several players over the summer as a result of Reading's relegation from the Premier League but has moulded a team that are mounting a serious title challenge in the Championship.
"Their away win at Birmingham was an outstanding result and proof, if needed, that the Royals are on track to return to the Premiership at the first time of asking."
Also short-listed for the December award in the Championship were Dave Jones, of Cardiff City, Neil Warnock, of Crystal Palace and Wolves' Mick McCarthy.
The League One manager of the month award went to Leicester City's Nigel Pearson who enjoyed a fantastic end to 2008, with the Foxes winning four and drawing one of their five league games.
The League Two prize was won by Dagenham & Redbridge boss John Still who rounded off a successful 2008 by remaining unbeaten throughout December.
