Southampton will be forced into changes on Wednesday when they host Ipswich with Ollie Lancashire suspended and Lee Holmes injured.
Teenage defender Lancashire is banned after his debut at QPR on Sunday lasted just half an hour before he was sent off for a reckless challenge on Damien Delaney.
Midfielder Holmes is unlikely to be available after suffering a leg injury during Saints' 4-1 defeat.
Centre-half Wayne Thomas is awaiting the results of a knee scan, and if skipper Michael Svensson decides his troublesome knee is not up to playing, Chris Perry will return to the defence alongside Jack Cork.
Nathan Dyer replaced Holmes at Loftus Road and could start, although fit-again Rudi Skacel (ankle) may also come into the reckoning.
Midfielder Jason Euell (shoulder) is a long-term absentee.
Ipswich manager Jim Magilton has doubts over four key players.
Left-back Ben Thatcher missed the 2-0 win over Reading on Saturday with a dead leg while centre-back Gareth McAuley lasted just 26 minutes before succumbing to a dead leg of his own.
Midfielder Alan Quinn has complained of a tight hamstring while forward Jon Walters had to have stitches in a head wound suffered against the Royals.
Magilton said: "Gareth and Ben are major doubts although Ben did some jogging on Monday.
"We don't want Alan's hamstring to tear so we will have to be careful while we will take medical advice on Jon with a head injury. I know all four want to play but it will be a case of seeing how they react."
Dutch defender Pim Balkestein or Ivan Campo could play at the back if McAuley is not fit while David Norris could come in for his first appearance of the season after recovering from an ankle injury.
Defender Alex Bruce is available after completing a three-match ban but will not travel with the squad and will play for the reserves on Tuesday night instead.
