Bristol City manager Gary Johnson insists that midfielder Scott Murray still has a future at Ashton Gate despite leaving on loan.
Johnson sanctioned a one-month loan to Cheltenham for the veteran winger on Monday, but believes the deal is right for both the player and the club.
"We wouldn't have given Scott a new contract if we thought it was the end of him. We love him and the way he plays," Johnson said.
"He showed in the reserves the other day that he still has the character and ability to score quality goals. The Championship is a bit different to the reserve league, but he needs to get his Championship legs.
"He will get the legs playing a few games for Cheltenham and we get the recall option after the first month. If he is challenging when he comes back then he will be ready.
"It's a positive move for everyone all round. I have already said to Scotty that I want him at this football club for as long as I am here."
