Berry Powel picked the perfect way to introduce himself to the Millwall fans as he stepped off the bench to score within three minutes of his Coca-Cola Championship debut at Cardiff.
The Dutch striker only arrived at the New Den in a £125,000 deal from Den Bosch last week but wasted little time in making his mark with a superb equaliser at Ninian Park.
Powel and fellow new signing Lloyd Dyer had started on the bench as Millwall looked to continue their recent resurgence under new boss David Tuttle.
But their arrival after the break swung the game in favour of the Lions after hot-shot Cameron Jerome had fired Cardiff ahead.
The Bluebirds enjoyed the better of a cagey opening period and it took Jason Koumas just a minute to fire in a powerful left-footed effort which forced Matt Lawrence to block.
Fourteen minutes later England Under-21 striker Jerome - who had been the subject of reported interest from Sheffield United, Norwich and Birmingham ahead of the transfer deadline - made his first purposeful contribution of the night when he fired over the crossbar from the edge of the box.
The hosts were enjoying the majority of the ball and after 17 minutes Darren Purse should have done better as he somehow contrived to balloon Neal Ardley's inswinging corner over the top from six yards out.
Millwall were struggling to get going and Tuttle may have been regretting the decision to start with Dyer and Powel on the bench instead of throwing them straight into the fray.
After 28 minutes he had further cause for frustration as Jerome expertly put Cardiff ahead.
There seemed to be little danger when Koumas picked the ball up in midfield but when he slipped a pass in to the pacey striker, Jerome darted away through a gap in the Millwall backline and drilled his shot into the bottom corner.
The visitors sought to hit back immediately and on the half-hour mark Alan Dunne curled an 18-yard effort past the post.
In injury-time, however, Jerome provided another example of his dazzling skills as he skipped away from his marker before slamming a shot just over the crossbar.
The game seemed to be Cardiff's for the taking and boss Dave Jones would have been urging his side to pick up where they had left off after the break.
It was Dyer and Powel who made the biggest impact of the second half, though, with the latter taking just three minutes to open his account for his new club.
The striker had arrived as a 56th-minute replacement for Ben May as Tuttle tried to pep up his attack. And with virtually his first touch he latched onto a pass from Lawrence before hitting a stunning low drive into the bottom corner.
Suddenly it was all Millwall, although Koumas briefly had goalkeeper Andy Marshall worried with a curling free-kick after 72 minutes.
With seven minutes left Jerome almost grabbed a winner when he flashed another 18-yard effort wide of the upright but the Lions deserved their point.
