Robert Scott's second-half goal saw bottom side Rotherham come from behind to notch their second away win in a row.
Millwall had taken a deserved lead through Alan Dunne only for Martin Butler to level on the stroke of half-time.
The game then totally changed around in Rotherham's favour after the break and it was Scott's goal that settled things.
The home side had made an encouraging start to the game and had the clearer chances.
Kevin Muscat smashed a right-foot volley just over the crossbar and Matthew Lawrence missed a great opportunity to edge the Lions ahead.
After an inswinging corner by Dennis Wise, Lawrence found himself with space in the area but looped his header high over the bar.
But moments later Millwall took a deserved lead on 16-minutes.
A quickly taken free-kick by Wise was played square to Muscat and his ball into the box fell to the feet of Dunne who rifled a right-foot shot past the helpless Pollitt.
Scott Dobie had the ball in the back of the Rotherham net on 27 minutes, but his well-placed finish was disallowed as he had strayed offside.
But out of nowhere Rotherham equalised just before half-time.
After a mazy run by Paul McLaren he played a measured pass to Butler who found half a yard of space to curl a classy left-foot shot around Millwall goalkeeper Andy Marshall.
The goal lifted the Championship's bottom side and they came out with added purpose after the break.
Chris Swailes had a good chance from a re-bounded Butler shot but failed to trouble Marshall.
Rotherham's physical presence was proving a problem for Millwall and they were failing to impose their passing style on the game like they had done in the first period.
Millwall were dealt a blow when player-boss Wise limped off after a challenge with Jamal Campbell-Ryce.
A last-ditch tackle by Mark Phillips stopped Butler scoring as he was about to smash the ball into the Millwall net, but the Millers did edge ahead on 69 minutes.
Campbell-Ryce did well on the left and put an inviting cross into the area which was met by a glancing header by Scott which hit the under-side of the cross bar and into the net.
Kevin Braniff almost responded with an immediate equaliser but saw his right-foot shot tipped over by Pollitt and Josh Simpson had a right-foot effort pushed on to the post.
Butler and Andy Monkhouse both had chances for Rotherham to try and kill the game off but they almost succumbed to late chances by Marvin Elliott and Dobie.
In the end it was Scott's header that separated the sides and earned Rotherham a valuable three points.
