Les Ferdinand rolled back the years today to help Leicester secure a point at the Reebok Stadium.

The 37-year-old striker came off the bench to equalise with a trademark towering header deep in stoppage time and leave Bolton stunned after they had taken the lead through Ivan Campo's second goal of the season.

Leicester had gone ahead through Marcus Bent only for Bruno N'Gotty to level the scores.

N'Gotty returned to the side after recovering from a hamstring injury. He partnered Simon Charlton at the back with Emerson Thome dropping down to the bench.

Stelios Giannakopolous also returned to the starting line-up at the expense of Per Frandsen.

Goalkeeper Danny Coyne made his first league start for Leicester as Ian Walker was suspended.

With defender Matt Elliott also banned and Steve Howey suffering a hamstring injury, Matt Heath was drafted in. Midfielder Callum Davidson and striker Marcus Bent were called up for Billy McKinlay and Les Ferdinand, who were on the bench.

Torrential showers at the Reebok Stadium made conditions difficult for both teams.

N'Gotty tried to pick out Youri Djorkaeff in the sixth minute but Leicester managed to clear their lines.

Coyne then fumbled a cross from Djorkaeff, only to recover with Giannakopolous lurking nearby.

Ben Thatcher almost put Leicester ahead in the 11th minute but his powerful 25-yard free-kick came back off the post.

A poor throw from Coyne gave Kevin Nolan a chance, only for his effort to drift wide.

Leicester took the lead in the 18th minute after a mistake by goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen.

He slipped while trying to clear and was slow to react when Bent curled a shot beyond him into the corner.

That goal stunned Bolton, who broke back with Nolan firing a shot wide in the 22nd minute.

Djorkaeff was then released by Ricardo Gardner but his bicycle kick failed to test Coyne.

Leicester looked dangerous on the break. Bent got clear and found Paul Dickov with a good cross, only for his effort to be beaten away.

Bolton equalised in the 35th minute when Djorkaeff's free-kick caused confusion in the visitors' defence. N'Gotty muscled in although his effort seemed to take a deflection off Heath.

Bolton stepped up the pace and Giannakopolous played the ball back to Djorkaeff but he blazed a shot high over the crossbar.

Jaaskelainen was then forced to make a good block from Bent two minutes before the break.

Bolton were the first to show in the second half when Campo headed the ball back to Kevin Davies. However the striker was off balance and saw his effort go well wide.

Bent, who had been causing Bolton problems with his pace, whipped in a good cross after 49 minutes. N'Gotty headed clear only for Leicester to be pulled up for an infringement.

Campo then released Nicky Hunt down the right but his cross was cleanly taken by Coyne.

Bolton went ahead in the 54th minute when Djorkaeff fed Campo 20 yards out and his low shot evaded Coyne.

Leicester again found themselves on the back foot in the 57th minute when Djorkaeff made space on the right only for his delicate lob to clear the bar.

Bolton had loud claims for a penalty waved away in the 63rd minute when Riccardo Scimeca appeared to trip Davies.

The home side were in the ascendancy and Giannakopolous steered a header wide following a cross from Jay-Jay Okocha.

Leicester hit back and Izzet tried to put Dickov clear but Jaaskelainen was alert to the danger.

Coyne did well to parry a spectacular overhead kick from Giannakopolous as Bolton kept up the pressure.

The Greece international was taken off in the 75th minute and replaced by Henrik Pedersen, who found the wrong side of the post from close range as Bolton went in search of a third goal.

Ferdinand almost pulled Leicester with three minutes to go, his effort being scrambled away.

But he persevered and grabbed the equaliser in stoppage time when he got on the end of Izzet's corner to head home.
