Leicester manager Nigel Pearson believes his side have coped well with the steep learning curve they have experienced following their promotion to the Championship.

The Foxes are 10th in the table but will climb into the top six with victory over Reading at the Madejski Stadium on Monday night.

However, Leicester can expect a tough battle in Berkshire with the hosts having dropped into the relegation zone following Peterborough's victory on Saturday.

The Foxes have lost just once on their travels this season - at Newcastle at the end of August - while their other five away games have produced four draws and just one victory.

Pearson is proud of his player's achievements and admits they have had to quickly adapt to the rigours of the Championship.

Pearson told lcfc.com: "We've been able to get results when things have been tough.

"The last few games have illustrated how tough a league this is, how competitive it is.

"We have not always been at our best but we've still been able to get results.

"We are learning to be more competitive. There's no doubt during a season there are going to be setbacks along the way.

"We were disappointed last week when we played Derby we couldn't convert our performance into a win.

"Likewise when we played Crystal Palace on Tuesday it was a very tough game against a team that are very difficult to beat at this level.

"But the players are showing a desire to play and try and be successful at this level and the league table speaks for itself.

"It is very tight throughout the league and we are in amongst it but it is going to be tough for the whole of the season.

"We're doing okay - we've got some tough games coming up but I say that every week."

Paul Gallagher scored the two goals that earned the Foxes victory over Palace on Tuesday after coming off the bench to extend the side's unbeaten run to five games.

In contrast to Leicester's good start, the Royals are third from bottom and have yet to win at home.

The Berkshire side are experiencing a difficult season after the successful tenure of Steve Coppell which came to an end in the summer which has seen the likes of James Harper, Leroy Lita, Stephen Hunt and Kevin Doyle leave.

They have lost their last three games and were soundly beaten 4-1 by QPR last time out.
