Darren Huckerby fired the winner against his former club as Norwich came back from a goal down at half-time to end a run of three straight defeats.

Huckerby reminded Leeds' travelling fans he still has the pace to hurt most Coca-Cola Championship defences when he raced beyond the visiting defence to slot home a 78th-minute winner for Peter Grant's struggling side.

Leeds had taken a 20th-minute lead when 18-year-old midfielder Jonny Howson steered Robbie Blake's cutback into the bottom corner, but Dion Dublin lashed home a cross from Youssef Safri just before the hour to draw the Canaries level.

Howson's first senior goal had put Leeds in the hunt for their first back-to-back league wins of the season following the midweek victory at Hull, but Dennis Wise's side still find themselves rooted to the bottom of the table.

Victory over Leeds was crucial for Norwich who secured only their second league win in 10 matches, but they now have a 10-point gap over the Yorkshiremen.

Midfield pair Mark Fotheringham and Simon Lappin made their debuts for Norwich and Dublin returned to the centre of defence following a knee injury. Chris Brown was also back from suspension up front.

Skipper Kevin Nicholls returned to Leeds' midfield and Blake was drafted in alongside Tresor Kandol up front in place of David Healy, who has broken his arm.

Norwich dominated the opening exchanges and Huckerby was denied an opener for offside when he fired beneath Leeds goalkeeper Neil Sullivan in the penalty area after being played in by Brown.

Leeds had to wait until the 19th minute for their first shot when Kandol's drilled effort fizzed wide after he momentarily got goal side of Gary Doherty, but the visitors grabbed the lead a minute later.

Blake and Kandol swapped passes to set the former free down the left and his cutback from the by-line was side-footed home low and firm into the bottom corner by Howson.

Dublin was nearly punished for giving the ball away carelessly at the back to Alan Thompson shortly after the restart and when he flicked the ball into Kandol's path Doherty had to be alert to clear the danger.

Leeds enjoyed more possession in the second period, but Norwich drew level in the 59th minute through Dublin.

Youssef Safri crossed from the left and Dublin fired home right-footed into the top corner from 12 yards for his sixth goal of the season.

Blake then headed straight at Marshall from Heath's cross and Armando Sa cleared Dublin's header as both sides chased a second goal.

Blake and Kandol both fired wide before Andy Hughes and Chris Makin replaced Jurgen Colin and Brown. Ian Moore went on for Kandol.

Norwich were rewarded for a spell of pressure straight from a Leeds corner in the 78th minute. Croft raced away down the right and when he fed Huckerby the former Leeds winger out-paced two covering defenders before tucking the ball underneath the advancing Sullivan.

Teenage striker Tom Elliott made his first Leeds appearance as an 80th-minute substitute in place of Nicholls, but made little impact.

Norwich almost doubled their advantage in the closing stages but Sullivan brilliantly denied Huckerby a second when tipping away his close-range volley.
