Leeds forward Jermaine Beckford says he is unsure what his future holds but would be "very sad" to leave League One champions Scunthorpe.

Beckford has enjoyed a marvellous season on loan at Glanford Park, scoring some crucial goals in Iron's pursuit of promotion, and hinted that he would welcome a full-time move to North Lincolnshire if a deal was placed on the table.

"I will definitely be sad if I do leave," he told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.

"With regards to the future, I'm not sure exactly what's going to happen. I just want to play football, we'll have to see in the summer.

"From the first day until now, I'm still smiling. The lads made me feel comfortable from the first day that I walked through the changing room and all I can say now is I'm really good friends with all of them.

"I just wanted to play a few games, score a few goals and have a few good performances as well. Luckily enough for me I've been able to do that. You can't ask for more than that when you go to any club on loan."
