Duncan Revie has confirmed he wants to open takeover talks with Leeds United chairman Ken Bates.
Revie, son of legendary former manager Don Revie who moulded Leeds into one of Europe's most feared teams during the 1960s and 70s, declared his interest in taking control at Elland Road last week.
Revie, who heads Soccerex, a football conventions and forums company, claims finances are not a problem as the Dubai-based Maktoum family are among his backers.
His spokesperson Faith Taylor told PA Sport: "We spoke to Duncan this morning and he can confirm the reports that he wants to sit down and start talks with Ken Bates."
Former Chelsea chairman Bates was forced to call in the administrators before Leeds' last Coca-Cola Championship game of the season with debts of £35million.
The Inland Revenue had issued a winding-up order due to an unpaid bill of £5million.
But with the approval of administrators KPMG, the club were immediately sold to a newly-formed company, Leeds United Football Club Limited, of which Bates is a listed director.
The sale is subject to the approval of the club's major creditors at a meeting later this month.
The Football League must also approve the deal, while local property developer Simon Morris formally lodged his £10million offer to buy Leeds with the administrators last week.
Morris, recently named among the top 10 richest people under 30 in Britain with a fortune estimated at £69million, announced plans for a further £25million cash injection to bring financial stability to the club.
The 29-year-old also proposes to develop land around Elland Road and build a new stadium as part of a £400million entertainment complex.
Morris was the leading shareholder in the Yorkshire consortium, headed by former chairman Gerald Krasner, that were in charge at Elland Road for 10 months from March 2004.
It has also been reported that other consortia are aiming to ambush Bates' plans to resume control of the relegated club.
A spokesperson for KPMG confirmed today that a date for the creditors' meeting will be announced "within the next 48 hours".
