Morecambe boss Sammy McIlroy has completed the loan signing of Doncaster goalkeeper Ben Smith on a one-month deal.

The 23-year-old has been signed as cover for the injured Barry Roche and is available for the Shrimps' encounter at Torquay on Saturday.

Smith has made 20 appearances for Doncaster, most notably in their defeat to Spurs in this season's Carling Cup.

McIlroy told Morecambe's official website: "With Barry out for so long we needed cover for him and Ben has come highly recommended."
