Paul Ince's first goal of the season enabled Wolves to claim a point but it is
five games without a victory for Dave Jones' side.
Malcolm Christie's first goal in 10 games put Derby in front after 14 minutes
but 35-year-old Ince levelled matters just after the hour.
The draw ended a run of three successive defeats for Derby but neither side
look capable of pushing for play-off places on the basis of these performances.
The hosts had the first opportunity but George Ndah headed the ball wide from
close range following Shaun Newton's excellent cross after 11 minutes.
The hosts made four changes to the side that lost 2-1 against Bradford, with
Kenny Miller starting in place of Dean Sturridge who is set for a lengthy
absence with an Achilles injury.
Denis Irwin was back from an ankle injury while Paul Butler and Newton also
returned to the side.
Alex Rae was on the bench after serving a one-match suspension with Mark Clyde
and Carlton Cole left on the substitutes' bench too after starting against the
Bantams.
Marc Edworthy was left out completely while Derby made one change with Ian
Evatt replacing George Burley.
Butler was booked for a foul on Izale McLeod after 13 minutes and shortly
after, Derby went ahead when McLeod broke clear and squared the ball for
Christie to convert from close range.
Ndah had a right-foot shot saved by Lee Grant as Wolves sought an immediate
response before Christie was booked for a foul on goalkeeper Matthew Murray.
Newton lashed a left-foot volley just over the crossbar after 26 minutes
before play switched to the other end and Murray was forced into a save to keep
out Adam Bolder's shot from the edge of the area.
Derby's Steve Elliott was booked for a foul on Miller just before the interval
as the visitors continued to hold on to their slender advantage.
Bolder was shown the yellow card after 51 minutes after crashing into Ince but
chances remained at a premium at both ends in the early stages of the second
period.
McLeod had a left-foot effort comfortably gathered by Murray but with over an
hour gone, the visitors looked comfortable with Wolves appearing to be devoid of
attacking ideas.
However, Ince dragged them back into the game with an equaliser after 65
minutes when he rifled a loose ball into the roof of the net from the edge of
the area.
Newton had a right-foot shot saved by Grant as Wolves tried to gain the upper
hand before Lee Morris was replaced by Lee Holmes for the visitors.
On-loan striker Cole joined the action after 77 minutes for Wolves with Ndah
going off before Mark Kennedy was booked for a clumsy challenge on Pablo Mills.
Colin Cameron had the final chance deep into stoppage time but his right-foot
volley from 18 yards flashed wide of Grant's right-hand post.
