Coventry have snapped up teenage Carlisle striker Gary Madine and AFC Wimbledon defender Chris Hussey on loan.

Madine has struggled for regular first-team football at Carlisle this season, but has secured a three-month move to Championship side Coventry.

The 19-year-old's sole start this term came in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, while he has made nine substitute appearances in League One and the Carling Cup.

Carlisle boss Greg Abbott is happy to give Madine the chance to perform at a higher level after confirming the deal.

"Gary is hungry for football and, at the moment, he finds himself behind the four strikers that we have at the club," Abbott told the club's official website.

"That has been frustrating for him, so this is a great opportunity for him to go and work at a club that is at Championship level.

"It will be a very good experience for him."

Hussey, meanwhile, had been chased by several Championship clubs, but Coventry boss Chris Coleman managed to put up the most persuasive argument to sign the left-back.

The 20-year-old will be on loan at the Ricoh Arena until January when he will sign a long-term contract with the Sky Blues.

Coleman is delighted to have brought in the former Woking youngster and is optimistic he can eventually make an impact at Championship level.

"There has been no secret about the fact that several clubs were trying to sign Chris, so we are delighted he has opted to come to Coventry City," Coleman told the club's official website.

"He is a very promising young left-back and we believe he has a bright future with us."
