Leeds have agreed to extend Matt Heath's loan spell at Colchester until the end of the season.
The central defender initially joined the Us on March 14 and has made three starts for the Championship strugglers.
Heath will remain at Layer Road until the end of the season, but Leeds have inserted a 24-hour recall clause into the agreement.
Heath, who signed a two-year deal at Leeds last summer, has fallen out of favour at Elland Road, with Lubo Michalik, Rui Marques and Paul Huntington ahead of him in the pecking order.
