Geraint Williams is hurting after Colchester's relegation - but has defiantly vowed they will be back.
The Us will run out in their new stadium as a League One side next term after Barnsley's win at Watford on Wednesday night confirmed their relegation.
"I was hurting on Wednesday night and I'm still hurting, but I don't deal in doom and gloom, it doesn't get you anywhere," said Williams on Thursday.
"You can sit in the corner and cry about it or you can get up and start fighting. Everyone at this club will see off this season with as many wins as we can and then over the summer we'll work hard and come out fighting next season.
"Over the 42 games so far, and 46 games in a season, you finish where you deserve to be and this is where we deserve to be.
"We want to finish as high as we can, though, and it would be nice to get off the bottom. It won't change the fact that we will be playing in a different league next year but it's that bit of pride in saying we went all the way to the end, and that's what we want to do."
