Cardiff have released an official statement declaring they wish to draw a line under Saturday's highly-publicised race row and insist they will not be taking any action over the matter.

Striker Michael Chopra, who is of Indian descent, was allegedly the subject of a racial slur from a Crystal Palace player at the final whistle after the two sides had battled out a 1-1 draw in the Welsh capital.

The incident sparked trouble on the pitch and in the tunnel area although Palace, in a statement of their own on Monday morning, branded the allegation "outrageous".

A statement on Cardiff's official website read: "Following the publicity that surrounded comments that were allegedly directed towards our player Michael Chopra after last Saturday's match at the Cardiff City Stadium, Cardiff City football club wish to draw a line under this issue and to look forward to the match against Coventry City.

"There will be no further public statement regarding this alleged incident nor any action taken by this club or any of its employees."

Whether the Football Association or Football Association of Wales opt to take any action of their own remains to be seen, although it is now unlikely as they wait for the referees report from Steve Tanner.
