Scotland's Lee McConnell produced another storming anchor leg but just could not claw back a 10-metre deficit as Britain's 4x400m relay women finished fourth.

McConnell, who won bronze in the individual event, just missed out by half a second as the quartet that also included Helen Karagounis, Helen Frost and Melanie Purkiss finished in 3:26.65.

Germany won in 3:25.10 from Russia (3:25.59) with Poland just holding off the British quartet to take bronze in 3:26.15.
