KIPKETER SETS THE STANDARD
Germany were still stuck on one gold after the 800m when Olympic champion Nils
Schumann lost his European crown in front of a home crowd.
Denmark's Kenya-born world record-holder Wilson Kipketer triumphed in one
minute 47.25 seconds, from last year's world champion Andre Bucher (1:47.43) -
with Schumann third in 1:47.60.
Kipketer, the three-time world champion, split the field with 230m to go and
then powered away down the home straight - with Bucher overhauling his German
rival to take second.
