Frenchwoman Muriel Hurtis completed a golden double for her country with victory in the 200m to follow Diagana's success in the 400m hurdles.

Hurtis triumphed in 22.43secs with Belgium's Kim Gevaert setting a national record with 22.53secs for second.

Italy's Manuela Levorato completed a sprint double bronze with third spot in 22.75secs.

Britain's Shani Anderson had gone out in the semi-final stage along with Ireland's Ciara Sheehy.
