Raymond van Barneveld faces Ronnie Baxter in the last 16 after he put in a classy performance to see off the gutsy Wes Newton 4-1.
The former World Champion averaged 102.54 and it was too much for Newton, who dug deep to grind out a set to make the score 2-1.
Apart from that it was all Barney and he eventually cruised to a routine victory.
In the final match of the night Mervyn King eventually ground out a 4-2 win over Mark Walsh.
The King couldn't find his rhythm early on, and fell 2-1 behind in sets, but soon started scoring heavily while Walshie missed countless attempts at double tops.
King won the last three sets to close out the game and he faces Denis Smith next.
Jelle Klaasen stormed to a 4-0 victory over Jan van der Rassel in the opening game of the evening session.
The former Lakeside World Champion was in sparkling form, his fast and furious style too much for his fellow Dutchman.
Klaasen faces Andy Hamilton in the last 16, after he beat Tony Ayres earlier in the day.
