One of the new generation of darting 'bolters' - like Dutch pair Michael van Gerwen and Jelle Klaasen - who should be around the top of the rankings for years to come.
The 2006 PDC Young Player of the Year, Wade's star rose even further in 2007 as he won both the World Matchplay and World Grand Prix, becoming the youngest player to take a title in the history of the PDC in the process.
And his victory in Blackpool underlined his liking for the venue as 12 months previously he had reached his first major PDC final there, with only 13-time world champion Phil Taylor preventing him from taking the title.
An England international during his time in the BDO, Wade has now climbed to third in the PDC rankings and that achievement at the age of 24 is testament to his ability.
Wade's stylish left-handed throw has won him plenty of admirers - and with the titles now coming, the former mechanic looks to be a future world champion.
