And the 35-year-old has done little in 2006 to suggest that is about to end at the Circus Tavern, with a string of early exits blotting his results sheet.

He was a semi-finalist at both the 2002 World Grand Prix and the 2004 UK Open, though, and has won the English, Welsh and Swiss Opens but has thus far failed to kick on and take the next step.
