One of darts' rising stars, Lewis' name has often been prefixed by the term 'Phil Taylor's protege' due to the fact that he has practised regularly with fellow the Stoke player.
He proved his potential with a run to the quarter-finals of last year's World Championship, beating fourth seed Roland Scholten before losing to eventual finalist Peter Manley.
Lewis has struggled to live up to the high expectations this season, though, and will look to re-establish his reputation as a world champion in waiting by going a long way here.
He was given the nickname 'Jackpot' by his fellow players after 'winning' more than £40,000 while in Las Vegas for the 2005 Desert Classic. However, as Lewis was still under 21 at the time he was not allowed to keep his prize!
