One of Holland's top players who always attracts a big following at the Circus Tavern, Scholten is a hugely popular character with both his players and darts fans alike.

The 31-year-old is a former UK Open champion but has yet to make a major impact at the PDC World Championship, a quarter-final spot being his best effort so far.

He reached the semi-finals of this season's World Matchplay to prove he is capable of mixing it with the best but finds himself (one again) in the shadow of Raymond van Barneveld after his fellow Dutchman's much-publicised switch from the rival BDO earlier in the year.

Nicknamed 'The Tripod' for his unusual stance at the oche, the popular former publican made his Embassy debut in 1992 before switching to the PDC at the turn of the century.
