The current world number one with over 500 ranking points on the board, yet Essex boy Lloyd has never performed to his true potential on the biggest stage of all in Purfleet.
His best world championship performance came back in 2002 when he reached the semi-finals only to lose to Peter 'One Dart' Manley and last year he unforgettably crashed out in the first round to the unheralded Gary Welding.
The man they call 'Jaws' (on account of his jagged nashers) won the World Grand Prix in 2004 and the World Matchplay the following year but his form since has been inconsistent.
Having reached the Premier League semi-finals this year he was battered by eventual winner Phil Taylor while his run in the International Darts League in Holland was ended at the final hurdle by PDC newcomer Raymond van Barneveld.
Yet on the plus side he has won the Irish Masters and Players Championship this year and now, as top seed in Purfleet, will be looking to add the 'big one' to his collection.
