Raymond van Barneveld whitewashed luckless Alan Tabern to reach the semi-finals at Purfleet.

Van Barneveld had things very easy against Tabern, who appeared overwhelmed by the occasion and missed many doubles as he failed to take a set off the four-time Lakeside world champion.

"It wasn't easy, and I think I got lucky that Alan missed some doubles and let me in," said the Dutchman, who will meet Andy Jenkins in the semi-finals.

"I expected a closer match - but when Alan shook my hand at the end he admitted he hadn't played all that well.

"But I had a rhythm, and my finishing has been really good this week."
